Premium wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia
Friuli Venezia Giulia is a region rich in vines, known above all for being considered the land of white wines and is the ideal place for lovers of this wine. As for the production of wines, we can divide this territory into three parts: the flat area with DOC Grave and the DOC wines of Aquileila, Annia and the Latisana plains, the North-East area with DOC Isonzo, Colli Orientali del Friuli and Collio, and the Giuliana part with DOC Carso. Each area produces a premium wine of excellent quality.
As mentioned, each grape variety of Friuli Venezia Giulia has its particular characteristics and many fine wines are born from the different grapes. There is Collio, located in the eastern part of the province of Gorizia which is known for the production of white wines, in particular Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla. However, there are also red wines such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The area of Grave which extends from the province of Udine to that of Pordenone is the largest in the region where two thirds of the wine production of Friuli Venezia Giulia is concentrated. Among the white wines, we find Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Tocai Friulano; for red wines we have purely international grapes such as Merlot, Cabernet, Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. As an autochthonous grape, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, with its unique characteristics has been defined as a difficult wine whose peculiarities are distinguished only after having tasted it several times.

A good tip for Merlot, on the other hand, is that produced by Radikon, certainly a very fine version of this wine with its balanced character which will nevertheless surprise you with every sip.
