Spello’s Gold, The Olive Festival and the Bruschetta Fete
Taste and flavour, tradition and innovation, tastings and initiatives linked to the territory – all distinguish this showcase event aimed at enhancing the treasures and beauties of one of the most fascinating and evocative towns in Umbria: “L’oro di Spello (Spello’s Gold)”, the festival which celebrates Spello’s extra virgin olive oil and the wealth of Italian cuisine.
Extra virgin olive oil is one of the most important local food and wine products and, for years now, it has been at the centre of a festival that enhances its qualities and characteristics thanks to a number of initiatives that will bring Spello to life from 15 to 17 November 2019.
During the weekend, on the occasion of the 58th edition of the “Festa dell’Olivo and Sagra della Bruschetta (Olive Festival and Bruschetta Fete)”, everyone can join in on the events and tastings, discover the local culinary history and food traditions. The event also aims to highlight all the stages of olive cultivation, from caring for the olive trees to pressing the olives, without forgetting, of course, the preservation of the final product.
Founded in 1963, the “Festa dell’Olivo and Sagra della Bruschetta” is also famous for its “Festa della Benfinita” celebration with a special parade of agricultural vehicles.
“L’oro di Spello” is not the only not-to-be-missed event … indeed, every year on the occasion of Corpus Christi festivity, the Umbrian town organises the flower festival “Infiorata di Spello“, which has been sponsored by Enoteca Properzio for many years.
It is a unique, engaging and spectacular event, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over Italy and the world over every year, with its colours, aromas and artistic creations that amaze children and adults alike, year after year.
