To celebrate the release of each new vintage of Ornellaia, a contemporary artist of international renown is invited to interpret its unique character by creating both a site specific art work and an exclusive series of 111 large size bottles as part of the Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista project. Sought after by collectors of contemporary art and fine wine, a selection of these exclusive bottles with labels designed and personally signed by the artist, feature at special charity auctions overseen by the auctioneers Sotheby’s, with proceeds donated to Art foundations around the world.

Following on from the “Splash”, the label created by John Armleder for Ornellaia’s iconic bottle, and which represents a recurring them in his work, these extraordinary sculptures represent, in the artist’s vision, the moment of enchantment as the wine emerges forth from the bottle, captured in an instant and frozen forever in time. Like a cloak that envelops the bottles, the glass sculpture transforms the bottle and everything inside it into a work of art, in an intense dialogue between dimensions of aesthetics and taste that are inseparable. The clear glass sculptures, each one unique due to the artisanal techniques used to create them have been created with a different finish for each large format of Ornellaia: iridescent for the 100 double magnums, chrome for the 10 imperials and gold leaf for the Salmanazar.
